It is quite a challenge to summarize Neva's  lifetime of 90 years into the space of a few web pages, deciding what to feature and what to ignore.

    Born in Williston, North Dakota, on June 19, 1909
  • Her Parents:
    Seward Magnus Hydle, originally from Ulvik, Hardanger Fjord, Norway (1874-1940)
        . son of Magnus Magnusson Hydle (1828-1903) and Synneva L. Osa  (1832-1918)
    Nellie Johnson Hydle of Petersburg, North Dakota (1883-1973)
        . daughter of U.S. Senator Martin Nelson Johnson (1850-1909)
          and Stella White Johnson (1858-1935)
  • Her Siblings:
    Audrey Hydle Bourgeois, Portland, OR
    John Houghton Hydle, deceased 1938

    Graduated from Williston High School at age 15, 1925
    Bachelor's of Education, University of North Dakota, 1929
    Also attended Columbia University and the University of Montana
  • Career:
    Taught high school English and social studies
    Directed high school drama productions
    Taught at Ray, ND, Stockett-Sand Coulee, MT, and Antioch Township High School, IL
    Coached the girls' basketball team at Ray High School, Ray, ND
  • Awards:
    Frequent Blue Ribbon prizewinner for her gladiolas and creative flower arrangements
    Golfer of the Week honored for her enthusiasm and longevity as an active golfer for 54 years.
    Published author of several essays, short stories and vignettes of life in the U.S.
  • Marriage:
    Married to A.D. "Bud" MacMaster on June 29, 1935 in Williston, ND
        . son of Dugald Donald MacMaster (1871-1960)
          and Edith Tuson MacMaster (1883-1930)
